When you can't fix the source, fix the sync
Most of us don't get to design our source of truth -- we inherit it, flawed and inconsistent. Here's what I did when the data was wrong, the people who owned it wouldn't fix it, and I needed accurate data anyway.

A source of truth is a discipline, not a database
Automation is only as good as the data you feed it. After years of building on network sources of truth — and finding out how wrong 'trusted' data can be — I've come to think the database is the easy part. The discipline of keeping it true is the whole job.
